The South Lake School District Board of Education adopted a replacement anti-bullying policy with detailed measures on May 16, 2012. The law signed in December 2011, known as Matt’s Safe School Law, requires school district boards to adopt and implement policies prohibiting school bullying and have them in place by June 6, 2012, as well as report them to the Michigan Department of Education. South Lake’s Board of Education moved unanimously to adopt the revised anti-bullying policy which became effective immediately.
South Lake Schools Policy 5517.01 in compliance with State requirements, protects all students from bullying/aggressive behavior regardless of the subject matter or motivation for such impermissible behavior. SEE ATTACHED FOR FULL POLICY.
The Great Start Readiness Program is a tuition-free, state grant funded preschool program for at-risk four-year-old students. The program requires children to be age four by November 1, 2013. Families must meet income guidelines and other risk factors.
