About the South Lake Dads’ and Moms’ Club
The South Lake Dads’ Club had been in existence since 1965. Over the years, the club grew to become a civic-oriented group that strives to encourage and assist scholastic, athletic, and social participation by South Lake students. In more recent years, the Cavalier and Quarterback clubs were established to provide yet more support for our school. In the fall of 1998, these groups merged in order to pool their resources and provide a focused service group, the South Lake Dads’ and Moms’ Club.
The purpose of the club is to extend assistance to all student-oriented clubs and organizations of South Lake High School. The club promotes school spirit and encourages our students in many ways. Our support in the last few years has been evident: numerous student scholarships, scholar athlete pins at sport award nights, donations for the Senior All-Night Party, Celebration of the Arts, equipment for sports teams, championship team t-shirts, school signs, trophy cases, and many other items. This is all to benefit South Lake students and to enhance our school. These are not items that are readily covered by tax based school funding. It’s the extras that encourage school pride and involvement by parents and students alike.
Membership is open to all South Lake parents, community members, and staff. Membership provides you the opportunities to help and support your child in their most memorable years.
Please join the South Lake Dads’ and Moms’ Club today. Dues are only $5.00 per family per year. We meet the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. during the school year at the high school. Our first meeting of the year is Wednesday, September 8.
New members and new ideas are always welcome. If you can’t make it to the meetings, contact an officer to volunteer or just find out what is happening with the SLDMC. We would appreciate your support, comments and ideas. Please visit the South Lake website: www.solake.org and follow our link.
Thank you in advance for your support and we will see you at our next meeting.
Sincerely,
Chris Slater, President SLDMC (contact me by 586-779-6253 or cmslateronly@yahoo.com)
