Local Scholarships
PLEASE NOTE QUALIFICATIONS
FOR EACH SCHOLARSHIP
The following is a list of local scholarships available to South Lake High School Seniors. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. Deadline to return applications to the Counseling Office is April 21st, unless otherwise noted. Check the Counseling Office periodically as more scholarships become available.
- Don Frederick Memorial Scholarship
Number of scholarships and amount to be determined
GPA 2.5 minimum
Member of South Lake’s softball or baseball teams
- South Lake Dad’s and Mom’s Club Scholarship
5 - $500
GPA: 2.5 minimum
Parent must be a member of club for 2 years.
Extra curricular activity/financial need
South Lake Dad’s and Mom’s Club will distribute applications to
scholarship qualifiers
- Cavalier Connection Scholarship
2 - $500
Acceptance into a Michigan college/university/trade school
Service oriented career
Must submit professional business letter to Counseling Office
- Shorewood Kiwanis Club College Scholarship
2 - $500
GPA 2.5
Must demonstrate financial need
Must attend Macomb Community College
- South Lake Elementary School Scholarships
- Avalon Elementary School
- 1 - $500
- GPA: 3.0
- Avalon student for at least 2 years
- Letter of recommendation
- Point system used - application requires signatures for verification of points
- Application due to Avalon Principal by May 4th
- Elmwood Elementary School
- GPA: 3.0
Elmwood student for at least 2 years
point system used - application requires signatures for verification of points
due April 20th to Elmwood PTO c/o Principal Dr. Jalkanen
- Koepsell Education Center - TBA
- AFSCME Union Scholarship
GPA : 2.0 minimum
Acceptance into a 2/4 year college or trade school
- SLEA Scholarship
1 – $500 (approximate amount)
Must be going into the teaching profession
- South Lake Band Boosters
Up to two (2) $250 scholarships to senior members
of the South Lake Band program
- Helping Hand
$500 scholarship to one student nominated by a teacher
- Student Council Scholarship
2 - $100
Must be a member of Student Council
Completed application due to Ms. Schroll by April 21 at noon
National Scholarships
- Stop by the Counseling Office to browse through the many available national
scholarships.
Scholarship Scams
If you have to pay money to get money, it's probably a scam.
Every year, several hundred thousand students and parents are defrauded by
scholarship scams. The victims of these scams lose more than $100 million
annually.
