This Season the Boys Varsity Swim Team came ready to sprint. Our first dual meet of the season resulted in having 3 state qualifiers in the 50 freestyle. We have since broken the team record, pool record, and county record in the 200 Freestyle Relay. We have had fast teams in the past but this team was by far the fastest I have ever coached. We had a good number of our team qualify for the county meet and we took 6th place overall once again this year. Our crowning achievement of the season had to be when the boys put together an outstanding effort and broke the county record with a time of 132.77 breaking the old mark of 132.85 set by Eisenhower in 1999. We were also the highest placing Division II school at the county meet again this year. In dual meet competition, we went undefeated for the first time in school history and were crowned league champions of the MAC Blue in our first season in the league. Individuals who were able to hit state cuts were Grant Pachmayer in the 50 free, Robert VanCampenhout in the 50 Freestyle, the 100 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke. Sean Holtz also qualified in the 50 Freestyle. Those three boys plus Dan Mendoza made up the 200 free relay which also qualified for the Division II State Swim Meet. Good Luck Boys!
200 Free Relay at Counties 2006! GOLD LOOKS GOOD ON YOU BOYS! |
This year the boys varsity swim team achieved perfection in our dual meet season. We went 11-0 for the first time in our history and we were 5-0 in our league competition which brought home our first championship in the blue division, which I might add we were just moved up to this year. We were also able to break the team and pool records in the 200 free relay and the team record in the 400 free relay. Qualifying for the state meet this year were Dan Mendoza in the 200 and 400 free relay, Grant Pachmayer and Sean Holtz in the 50 free as well as the 2 relays, and Robert VanCampenhout in the 50 free 100 free and the 2 relays and Chris Holtz served as our alternate, Nice Job Chris! We also received the following all county bids: 1st team Dan Mendoza 200 Freestyle with a time of 202.32 Grant Pachmayer 50 Freestyle with a time of 23.44 Sean Holtz 100 Butterfly with a time of 58.94 Robert VanCampenhout with a time of 50.85 The 200 Medley relay of: Nick Patricca, Grant Pachmayer, Dan Mendoza and Sean Holtz with a time of 148.65 The 200 Free relay of Sean Holtz, Grant Pachmayer, Dan Mendoza, and Robert Vancampenhout with a time of 132.22 The 400 Free relay of Sean Holtz, Max Woerfel, Dan Mendoza and Robert Vancampenhout with a time of 335.45 2nd team all county honors went to Chris Holtz 200 Freestyle with a time of 205.08 Tobia Sowka 50 freestyle with a time of 24.74 Max Woerfel 100 butterfly with a time of 103.45 Nick Patricca 100 backstroke with a time of 102.28 This years Most improved swimmer was a rookie last year and he was not a regular scorer. He often didnt make our top 3 lineup of the 10 backstroke. This year he worked as hard or harder than most of the athletes on our team. He scored at least one point in every meet in which I gave him the opportunity to swim the 100 back. This years MIP is Ryan Calcaterra. Our MVP should come to no surprise to anyone Im sure, he is stroke for stroke the fastest swimmer I have ever coached. He changed our program in many ways and has pushed some of his fellow swimmers to want to be as good as him. He was our league MVP as voted by the MAC blue coaches and he is our team MVP as voted by his teammates, This years MVP is Robert VanCampenhout. I would like to thank Bob VanCampenhout for all of his support throughout the season in maintaining stats for us, Mr Frederick for announcing at our home meets, Chad Hyvonen for running the timing system, Kathy Bour for coaching our divers, Sue Thompson for scoring and announcing, the athletic department for their support and all of my athletes parents for providing snacks after the home meets and for helping me to keep their athletes healthy, in school and at practice everyday. |
