About the Newspaper
The Lancer is a forum for student expression. This magazine is a member of the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association, Ohio Scholastic Media Association, National Scholastic Press Association and Quill and Scroll, which is the National Honor Society of high school journalists.
The Editorial Policy -- Opinion pieces written by any staff members do not represent the opinion of South Lake High School, the adviser, faculty or the administration.
Letters to the Editor -- Letters are encouraged from students, staff and members of the community and should be sent to the Lancer in care of South Lake High School or placed in adviser Barb Taetsch's mailbox located in the main office. The Editorial Board has the right to shorten or edit letters as long as the meaning remains unchanged. All contributions are subject to restrictions of libel, defamation or obscenity and will be withheld for these reasons or for lack of space. All letters must be signed; however, names will be withheld on request for valid reasons.
Advertising Policy -- The Lancer accepts advertising from any business willing to comply with our regulations. The Lancer does not accept ads selling tobacco, alcohol or items in classified ads. Advertisers are required to sign a contract that states they were aware of the price and that they agree' to pay the set price. Anyone interested in placing an ad should call South Lake High School's main office at (586) 435-1400 or the Lancer office at (586) 435-1492, ext. 6234, and leave a message.
